Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot?... over...

Mortars in Miniature came about back around the turn of the century when a group of modelers then known as the Yankee Armor Guild or YAG for short, were trying to decide on a 'group build'. Several subjects were discussed and I made the suggestion of building a series of mortar models. There were ample kits available, I had already built a couple and I figured that they would be fairly quick builds that wouldn't take much time away from our larger and more time consuming modeling projects that were already in progress...

That group build never came to fruition, and the original six-member YAG disbanded shortly thereafter.

So... here I am. As of this writing, almost ten years, a website with 46 mortar models (and still counting!) later, I am now that 'group build'. What started out as a model collection, has matured into a gathering of information pertaining to the Infantryman's Artillery and to the scale modeling thereof. This website also contains approximately 600 actual mortar photos, I have been helped by 90 contributors from 16 countries and I am extremely honored to have 16 mortar men with their experiences being shared on this site.

I have tried to be as accurate as I can be at the time of a particular build. Researching isn't all that easy to come by especially when pertaining to the older mortar systems. I have done what I was able to do with what I had available. I will never claim to 'know it all', nor are my models always totally correct.
Gathering this collection has been a wonderful experience and continues to be so. I have been helped by so many generous people, including veterans from all over the world that have provided me with either hard copy or electronic references and to them, I am most grateful. I have met many new friends that share this common interest and without their help, Mortars in Miniature would not be what it is today.

I, myself have had limited experience with mortars, having trained with them on several occasions while serving as an Infantryman and later as an operations (S3) NCO with the United States Army.

I will do my best to maintain this website for as long as I can. The cost to operate is being absorbed by no one other than myself, it is a personal web site however; times are tough. I have tried to make this as interesting and substantial as I can with my limited subject knowledge, limited modeling skills and limited funds. All models and supplies are generously donated by my wallet.
Thank you all for your contributions and your continued support!
Sincerely,

Kevin Robert Keefe
