General Mortar Info: |
|
|
Developed in the late 1950's from components designed and built in the UK and Canada, the L16A1 was initially deployed in 1961 and has been exported to at least 39 countries since. It continues to serve in many of those countries as front line equipment today (2004). The L16A1 is capable of firing all standard NATO 81mm ammunitions as well as ammunitions being produced in other Commonwealth and former Commonwealth nations. It is also capable of utilizing modern day mortar gunnery computing systems for increased accuracies. Please refer to the 1/1 Photo Shop page for actual live fire photos of this weapon in use with the Canadian Forces. |
